Theory and Translate Tips by TEC

The English Camp

Sebenarnya ada beberapa cara men-Translate, seperti translate word by word, translate sentence by sentence, translate by context, maupun translate by meaning. Dan disini TEC akan mencampur semua Cara mentranslate kedalam konsep “Translate by Imagination”. Biarkan otak sebelah kanan lebih dominan dalam mentranslate/menterjemahkan setiap kalimat, tapi ini tidak berarti bahwa otak kiri boleh duduk manis didepan tv.Banyak para pengajar (teacher) mengatakan “translate lah kalimat itu by meaning not by word (arti dari kalimat, bukan arti dari kata)”, nah inilah yang menjadikan dasar TEC memberikan cara menerjemahkan alimat dengan konsep “translate by imagination”.
IMAGINATION sendiri memiliki arti majinasi atau daya khayal. Oleh karena itu TEC menggunakan aturan “think out of the box”, jadi jangan terlalu kaku, karna pada dasarnya menerjemahkan sebuah kalimat itu sendiri bukan dinilai dari benar atau salahnya, tapi dinilai dari bisa atau tidaknya orang lain memahami hasil translate/terjemahan kita.
Sekedar info:
Translate by Word(kata): Go Out, I don’t like you. (Keluar, gua ga’ suka ama loe).
Translate by meaning: Go out, I don’t like you. (artinya dia lagi marah dan ngusir loe).
Nah simple kan? Tapi translate by meaning digunakan ketika kita sebagai audience(pendengar) sudah di peringkat “Pro”, tapi kita juga wajib memulai translate sentence dari kata per kata (word by word), jika sudah mahir, barulah kita mentranslate menggunakan meaning. Step by step dulu bro..
Baik brother and sister, siapkan alat tempur anda baik itu berupa Pen/pencil, a Book/paper, Dictionary, Snack and a cup of Tea biar g’ boring dan kalo perlu ditambah amunisi secangkir kopi biar tetap nge Jreeng!!, juga ditambah hiburan music dangdut (Dangdut is the Music of My Country, hahahaha)
langsung aja siap-siap.
Hati-hati dengan penempatan koma:
Woman, without her man is nothing! (Wanita, tanpa pacarnya bukanlah apa-apa!)
Woman, Without her, Man is nothing! (Wanita, tanpanya, Pria tidak berguna!)

Perbandingan yang terjadi apabila komanya diletakkan pada tempat berbeda pada saat menulis sangat akan menyababkan perbedaan arti, Dan ketika berbicara kita juga harus memperhatikan dimana kita harus melakukan “Jeda” (berhenti sejenak)

The English Camp

Setelah ini, apa akan kita lakukan? Karena masih Rancu, maka kita boleh memodifikasinya!

The English Camp

After This, what will we do?  Setelah ini, Apa yang akan kita lakukan?
Atau bisa juga “abis ne, kita ngapain?

Dengan demikian kalimat akan terkesan lebih elegant, Jika anda menganggap kalimat di atas sangat mudah dan hanya dimodif dikit bisa menjadi kalimat yang lebih baik (better), lalu kalimat yang dibawah ini akan kita modif modif “maksudnya?” (di modif 2 kali, hehe).  Check this out:
Example:
My Grandfather is always losing his walking-stick.
Santai, kita masih harus melakukan translate dengan cara manual (word by word).
Kakek saya – adalah – selalu – kehilangan – berjalan - tongkat
Mari kita modifikasi:

The English Camp

Nah, It’s better than before. Terlihatkan perbedaannya sebelum dan setelah dimodif? Mungkin anda bertanya-tanya “tadi kan udah dimodif, kok dimodif lagi? Apakah artinya tidak berubah?” ya namanya juga di modif  (boleh ditambah, dikurangi, maupun diganti spare part nya) hingga hasilnya seMantap mungkin, kalo masalah arti (meaning-nya) apakah akan berubah? ya tentu saja berubah, berubah menjadi lebih baik (I think you know what I’m talking about) Semua tergantung dari bagaimana cara anda memodifnya.

Mari kita bermain dengan sedikit skill:
In case of emergency, run like hell!
Kalimat diatas cukup sulit, mari kita buka kamus sejenak, maka akan tercipta sebuah translate:
Dalam kasus darurat, lari suka neraka!
Apa? Lari seperti neraka? Wah stress ne yang translate. Mari kita periksa:
run like hell!
Run : berlari, Like: suka, Hell: neraka(?).
Mari kita pikirkan kata yang cocok untuk mengganti kata “like” dan “hell”..
Hmm.. like> suka (dalam kamus ada beberapa arti “like” > suka / sama / seperti)
Hell > neraka > menyeramkan> kalo ketemu yang seram mending KABUR, kabur? >  TERBURU-BURU. Baik, kita masukkan kedalam kalimat:
In case of emergency, run like hell!
Dalam keadaan darurat, seperti terburu-buru!
Masih Rancu? modif lagi:
Dalam keadaan darurat, buru-burulah lari !

Kalimat ini sudah benar 99,999%. Tapi buat pemahaman lebih top markotop, maka:
In case of emergency, run like hell! > Dalam keadaan darurat, KABUUURRR!!
Bagaimana? Cukup menguras keringat kan?  Sambil di pahami, Drink your tea and don’t forget to breathe!! Kalo lupa mah death ntar.. hehehe..
Dengan ini saya nyatakan “translate by imagination” Done.

Dan saya harap teman-teman tidak akan canggung lagi ketia menemukan kalimat/phrase/idioms seperti dibawah ini:
His imagination gets the best of him > khayalannya menguasai dirinya
Be not mine > bukan kewajibanku
Hang on with eyelids > berada dalam keadaan susah sekali
Moved heaven and earth > berusaha sekuat tenaga
Cried for the moon > pungguk merindukan bulan
Run one’s head into stone walls > terbengkalai/terbentur
Kill two birds with one stone > sekali tepuk, dua nyamuk mati :D

and many more..
